SUV Slams Into Business Storefront In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. -- Two people escaped injury after their SUV slammed into a business on Post Road East in Westport on Thursday afternoon, fire officials said. When fire officials arrived at 4:30 p.m., they discovered the two occupants were out of the vehicle and unhurt. The building was unoccupied at the time. Crews from Westport Fire Department Rescue 3 and Engine 5 stabilized the vehicle in place and inspected the building to ensure it was not heavily damaged. Stamford Police To Be Commended For Arrest Of Man In Mall STAMFORD, Conn., -- Stamford Mayor David Martin will hold a ceremony commending officers who used what Martin called "a disciplined approach" to arrest a man who was waving what later was found to be a replica gun at the Stamford Town Center on Wednesday. The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Mohamed Boumazzourh, 29, a Norwalk resident was charged with carrying and brandishing a facsimile firearm, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and breach of peace in connection with the incident. Ridgefield Man, 70, Struck By Delivery Van In Wilton, Police Say WILTON, Conn. -- A 70-year-old man was struck by a delivery van as he walked on a common driveway just after 9 a.m. Thursday, Wilton Police said. The man fell on the driveway and hit his head, police said. The common driveway is in the circle between Scoops and Village Market. The 70-year-old Ridgefield resident was taken to Norwalk Hospital but there is no information on the extent of the injuries, police said. Police are continuing the investigation.

ATM And Safe Stolen From Norwalk Business, Police Say NORWALK, Conn. -- Thieves stole an ATM and a safe from a Wall Street business overnight Tuesday, Norwalk Police said. Police were called to Latino Express at 93 Wall St., shortly after 9 a.m. Police seized evidence at the scene and are continuing the investigation, said Lt. Terry Blake. There was no information if any money was stolen in the burglary.

Wilton Police Charge Bridgeport Woman In Fake Check Scheme WILTON, Conn. — A Bridgeport woman is facing charges in connection with a fraudulent check scheme that included a Wilton business as one of its victims, police said. Chynih Coker, 21, of 59 Taft Ave., is charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit larceny and one count of fourth-degree money laundering. Norwalk Cops: Aunt, Nephew Charged After Making Up Fake Carjacking Story NORWALK, Conn. -- It wasn't the best thought-out of plans. A Norwalk man crashed his aunt's 2000 Honda Accord on Sunday morning into a fence at a home at 120 Woodward Ave., and told her he had been carjacked, Norwalk Police said. Worker Charged With Trying To Steal Two Diamond Rings From Greenwich Home GREENWICH, Conn. -- A worker was caught trying to slip a pair of diamond rings back into a master bathroom after the homeowner discovered they were missing, Greenwich Police said.
