Power Restored At Greenwich Town Hall; Open For Meetings Tonight GREENWICH, Conn. -- Regularly scheduled meetings at Greenwich Town Hall will take place Tuesday night after power was restored from an earlier outage. Bethel Cops: Man Borrows Vehicle, Uses It As Battering Ram To Free His Car BETHEL, Conn. -- A Middletown man borrowed someone else's vehicle without permission and used it as a battering ram Monday morning to free his own vehicle, Bethel Police said. His car had become stuck in a bush near a home at 50 Maple Ave. the night before, police said. Police: Darien Yacht Club's Credit Card Used For Fraudulent Purchases DARIEN, Conn. — Someone got ahold of a Noroton Yacht Club credit card and went on a bit of a spending spree, Darien Police said. The club's bookkeeper discovered the card was used for a total of 25 transactions with all but one occurring in Willimantic, police said. Ten transactions occurred in October — one of which was in Darien — for a total of $198. In November, 15 transactions occurred in Willimantic, totaling $456, Capt. Donald Anderson said. Bridgeport Man Charged With Stealing Laptop From Car In Easton EASTON, Conn. -- A man wanted in connection with the theft of a laptop computer from a vehicle in Easton in May was picked up by Bridgeport Police on Sunday and handed over to Easton Police. Police said there was a warrant for Jerry L. Torres' arrest in connection with the May 18 incident in Easton. Police said he was found with the laptop, and he's charged with fourth-degree larceny. Torres couldn't post $15,000 bond and was held for arraignment Monday.

Easton Police Charge Man Hiding In Trunk Of Car In Home Burglary Attempt EASTON, Conn. -- A man was found hiding in the trunk of a car in the driveway of a home that he tried to break in through the dog's door on Sunday, Easton Police said. Bridgeport Man Allegedly Gave Cousin's Name To Norwalk Cops At Arrest NORWALK, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man wanted to keep it all in the family — by giving Norwalk Police his cousin's name when he was arrested two years ago. Qadir Al-Amir, 38, of 43 Yale St., Bridgeport, was arrested in Norwalk on Dec. 14, 2014. He allegedly gave police his cousin's name at the time of his arrest, according to police. But his cousin got a letter from the court telling him he had missed his court appearance in the case, police said.
