The attractions are for the Carmel Fire Department's carnival, which is scheduled to run through the weekend and include a fireworks display on Saturday night. South Salem Church Cemetery Added To State Historic Register SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. -- The South Salem Presbyterian Church cemetery was added to the State Register of Historic Places, a state official announced in a recent letter to Lewisboro Supervisor Peter Parsons. Ruth Pierpont, Deputy Commissioner for Historic Preservation, explained in a July 29 letter that the State Review Board recommended the inclusion to the New York State Historic Preservation Officer, who agreed to add the cemetery. Carmel Seeks $200K Grant For Camarda Park Work MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- The Carmel Town Board approved seeking a $200,000 state grant for work at Camarda Park. The vote, held at the board's Aug. 20 meeting, was to authorize an application to the New York State Dormitory Authority.  The grant, according to the board's resolution, is a State and Municipal Facilities Program Grant. Supervisor Kenneth Schmitt, in an interview following the meeting, said it is a $200,000 grant for upgrades and improvements.
