Combat Military Veteran From Danbury Honored With An Array Of Medals DANBURY, Conn. – Nearly 15 years after he served his country and was wounded during Operation Iraqi Freedom, a veteran from Danbury was awarded 16 medals for his military service. The medals were presented to combat veteran Robert Carpenter, 42, by U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D-5th District) in a ceremony on the stage at the Danbury Green. Federal Grand Jury Indicts Accused 'Pill Mill' Doctors From Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. — A federal grand jury handed down an indictment on two doctors who practiced medicine at an urgent care facility in Norwalk, charging them with narcotics distribution, health care fraud and money-laundering offenses and spelling out their years-long practice of writing narcotics prescriptions for cash. Flying Bricks: Car Slams Into Salon In Milford MILFORD, Conn. — The owner of Styles International Salon said "there’s sheetrock and brick everywhere" after a car slammed into the side of the building Wednesday morning, according to the Connecticut Post. But no one was injured when the Toyota Camry went right into the building at 952 Boston Post Road, police said. The building suffered extensive damage, but owner Andrew Takacs was staying open for business at the site, where he has been for the past 19 years, the Post said. Shelton Man's Car Stolen While He Works Out At Trumbull Gym TRUMBULL, Conn. — A Shelton man was left stranded after a workout at LA Fitness at the Westfield Mall in Trumbull after his car was stolen from the parking lot Monday night, police said. The man arrived at the gym at 5065 Main St. at about 9:30 p.m. in his 2013 Hyundai Sonata, police said. Fire Smolders For Days In Mulch Pile In Newtown NEWTOWN, Conn. — A fire burning in a mulch pit for three days is keeping crews from Botsford Fire and Rescue Department busy, according to a Facebook post. The mulch pile is on Button Shop Road, the post said Wednesday. The Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue has also assisted at the scene with an additional tanker. The mulch pile continues to burn on the inside, and the fire occasionally reaches the surface and ignites, causing a heavy smoke condition in the area, the Facebook post said.

Driver Distracted By GPS Slams Into Police Cruiser On Route 7 BROOKFIELD, Conn. — A 38-year-old Danbury man who said he was distracted by checking his GPS when he slammed into a state police cruiser on Route 7 in Brookfield is now facing charges in the crash.
