Rich was born in Stamford on July 22, 1938, to Anthony Rich Sr. and Concetta Candelmo Rich. He lived in West Haven and was a former resident of Stamford. He was a captain and fire marshal with the Stamford Fire Department for 20 years before retiring in 1988.
