Fairfield County Woman's Cookies Are A Sweet Treat For U.S. Soldiers STAMFORD, Conn. -- Holidays, barbecues and other festive occasions would not be the same without Connie Telesco’s famous chocolate chip cookies, homemade right here in Stamford. Connie Telesco never shows up to an event without them, and if they are not hidden away until dessert, they are usually gone within minutes of her arrival. Telesco resides in Stamford with her husband John, a retired Stamford fireman and Vietnam veteran. About 10 years ago, she decided she would send her cookies and other goodies overseas to the troops to show them how much they are appreciated. “In 2004, I saw wa…

The 2013 Pound Ridge Election – My After Thoughts The 2013 Pound Ridge Election – My After Thoughts
The 2013 Pound Ridge Election – My After Thoughts POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- There was a good chance Ali Boak could have won the election - not by an unopposed landslide but by a few votes from those Republicans who support the core values for which her party stands. The reason I believe she lost has more to do with the ethics on behalf of her campaign staff with finger pointing, name calling and rumor spreading being just the start. In lieu of the campaigning and stress that went along with it, I would have suggested that we should have considered a four-round winner takes all mud wrestling contest including re-naming rights for Scotts Corner…

New Somers Business Brings Brewing Home New Somers Business Brings Brewing Home
New Somers Business Brings Brewing Home SOMERS, N.Y. – Greg Gates found himself traveling frequently to purchase supplies to brew beers at home. His solution? Start his own business, The Simple Brewer, at 346 Route 202 in Somers. “There’s really nothing in the area,’’ said Gates, who opened the store in early October. He has been a home brewer for nearly 10 years. “People were traveling all over to get supplies, myself included. You had to go to Connecticut or Long Island. A lot of people want to do it, and they’re excited that they don’t have to travel far to get what they need.” People interested in brewing their own beer or …
