Miss Italia Peekskill Wins Swimsuit Award At Miss New York Pageant PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Nadia Mangelli, 21, of Peekskill competed last weekend in the New York USA Pageant last weekend. Manginelli won Miss Italia Peekskill to earn her way into the New York contest. She won the Best Swimsuit Award and placed in the top 20. The Best Swimsuit award is given to the contestant which shows the best physically fit body, which includes a healthy body. This is Manginelli's second attempt at the Miss New York USA Pageant. Dinner, Auction Supports Norwalk High Marching Band NORWALK, Conn. – A dinner with music and auctions to benefit the Norwalk High School marching band will be held at the Norwalk American Legion Hall on Friday, Jan. 31. The event runs from 5:30 to 11 p.m. The American Legion Hall is at 60 County St. in Norwalk. The evening includes dinner, dessert, music, dancing and a silent and live auction. Norwalk Mad Bull Wrestlers Win 11 Golds At Wilton Tournament NORWALK, Conn. -- Wrestlers from the Norwalk Mad Bulls crowned 11 champions and took home a slew of other medals from the Wilton Youth Wrestling Classic last weekend. In the morning session, Norwalk wrestlers Mike Bartush, Nick Singer, Jason Singer, Colin Falla, Jacob Gonzales,Zavier Hernandez, and Calli Gilchrist won gold. Chaplain Dies From Burns Suffered In Danbury Gas Station Explosion DANBURY, Conn. – A chaplain died Tuesday from the injuries he suffered an explosion at a Danbury gas station last month, according to a blog in The News-Times. The Rev. David Wentroble, who lived in Danbury, died Tuesday at Bridgeport Hospital, where he had been treated since the explosion on Friday, Dec. 20. He was the chaplain at Nyack Hospital in New York and was a minister at Central Presbyterian Church in Haverstraw, N.Y. Greenburgh Central School Students Celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The Lee J. Jackson Elementary School in the Greenburgh Central School District observed Peace Week and honored Martin Luther King, Jr. with readings, songs and sharing assemblies last week. Teachers spent Friday, Jan. 17, speaking to their students on the teachings and work of King. When kindergartner Donovan Russell’s teacher asked him why we celebrated King, he answered, “Because he changed the world.”
