Westchester Teen Sues Camp Run By Former NFL QB's Family For Sex Abuse WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – A sports camp run by former NFL quarterback Jay Fiedler and his family is being sued by a Westchester teen after he was allegedly sexually abused by a counselor at the camp in Sullivan County, according to a report on LoHud.com. The alleged assault occurred in 2006 at Brookwood Camps, the report said. The 18-year-old, listed as “John Doe” in the suit, said counselor Willie Barron sexually assaulted the boy while he was sleeping in a cabin, according to LoHud. Rye Senator Challenges State Education Commissioner On Common Core RYE, N.Y. – New York State Sen. George Latimer posted a video recently in which he challenges New York’s Commissioner on Education John King on the Common Core. Fairfield Prep Football Players Make College Commitments FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Prep seniors Nick Crowle and Tony Fox announced their decisions to play football in college. Crowle, a linebacker, will attend Yale University. Fox, a defensive lineman, will attend Fordham. Crowle was one of the captains for Prep as it reached the Class LL championship game and posted its best season in years. Report: New Canaan Man Accused Of Holding Knife At Wife NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A New Canaan man was arrested after he was accused of holding a knife against his wife, according to a Patch.com report. Greg Peck, 42, of Park Street, was also accused of threatening his wife in another confrontation, according to the report. Peck was charged with disorderly conduct in the threatening case. He was charged with reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening, first-degree unlawful restraint and interfering with a 911 call after the alleged knife incident. Westport Teen Creates Phone App To Predict School Snow Closures WESTPORT, Conn. – A Staples High School junior has developed an app for smartphones that predicts when schools in Fairfield County will close due to bad weather, according to a Westport News article. Scott Pecoriello, 17, said the app, “Know Snow,” is 84 percent accurate at predicting school cancellations. The app is available for free in Apple’s App Store. The story said about 300 Apps have been downloaded, and his Facebook page gets about 100,000 hits a week. The Facebook page has nearly 9,000 likes. Pecoriello also has a website.
