Herman was born in Stamford on July 15, 1929, to Mary Inzitari Herman and Walter W. Herman. He  was a member of the Stamford High School Class of 1947 and served in the 43rd Infantry Division 192nd Field Artillery Battalion as a master sergeant during the Korean War. Born in New York City on Oct. 8. 1925, Goldreich was a Mount Kisco resident for 50 years. He and his wife, Vivian, shared a life of family and travel. Goldreich was a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and Union College. A prominent structural engineer in New York, he opened his own practice in 1960 and continued to serve clients until he died. Rye Business Evacuated After Bomb Threat RYE, N.Y. -- A Rye business received a letter containing a bomb threat Tuesday, forcing the evacuation of the building, according to a report on LoHud.com. SS&C at 1 South Road was evacuated as Rye, Harrison and Westchester County police investigated the business late Tuesday afternoon. SS&C is a financial technology services company. Pelham Student Named Intel STS National Finalist WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Students from Pelham Memorial and Ossining High School were among the 40 finalists named for the Intel Science Talent Search competition on Wednesday. Croton Man Charged With DWI In Route 9 Stop CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- A Croton-on-Hudson man was arrested for driving while intoxicated Sunday by New York State police. Richard M. Panio, 63, was stopped on Route 9  by State Police from the Cortlandt barracks.  Police said the vehicle Panio was observed traveling at a high rate of speed and crossing over hazard markings. Following a vehicle and traffic stop, Panio was found to be intoxicated.   Panio submitted to a breath test that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .11 percent. His court date was set for Jan. 30.

Danbury Fires Police Officer Accused Of Using Excessive Force DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton fired a city police officer with a history of using excessive force, NewsTimes.com reported. Daniel Sellner, a 19-year veteran of the force, was fired on Jan. 14 from an internal investigation of an incident last August, the NewsTimes said. Sellner, former vice president of the police union, also had at least two prior incidents where he used excessive force, the story said. Jim Clark, 70, and his wife, Kristy Hinze, bought the home on the Greenwich/Armonk border in July for $27.5 million. The home went on the market in May. Hinze, 35, is a model for Victoria’s Secret.
