Eight Cats Rescued From Mount Kisco Fire 'All Doing OK' MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Eight cats who were rescued from a fatal Mount Kisco house fire are "all doing OK," according to Sofia Rocha of the SPCA of Westchester. SPCA staffers went to the house and recovered the cats on Wednesday, Rocha said. The cats are now in custody with the organization, which has a facility in the Briarcliff Manor area. One kitten was among those saved and is now being fostered, Rocha added. Electrical Problem Caused Mount Kisco Fatal Fire MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- The cause of Wednesday's fire, which killed one woman, was ruled to be electrical, according to Mount Kisco Fire Chief Mario Muccioli. The electrical cause was due to a problem with a wire, the chief explained. An official with the Westchester County Medical Examiner's office identified the victim as Chrystine Nicholas, 86. Katonah-Lewisboro's Testing Opt-out Rate Below State Level CROSS RIVER, N.Y. -- The rate of Katonah-Lewisboro students opting out of state ELA and math exams is lower than the statewide figure, new data show. The data, released by the New York State Department of Education (SED), show that Katonah-Lewisboro's rate is 11 percent, versus the statewide rate of roughly 20 percent.
