89-Year-Old New Canaan Man Faces Sex Charge, Police Say NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- An 89-year-old New Canaan man is facing a prostitution-related charge after he offered to pay to perform a sex act on the complainant, New Canaan police said. Michael Cerretani of 186 Lakeview Ave., Apt. 6., is charged with patronizing a prostitute, police said. He was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 22. On Aug. 19, police received a complaint from a victim, who indicated that Cerretani had offered to pay the victim to perform sexual services on the victim. After an investigation Cerretani turned himself in to police on Sunday, police said.

Police: Elderly Greenwich Woman Falls Victim To Phone Scam, Sends $3,000 GREENWICH, Conn. -- A 72-year-old woman fell victim to an ongoing scam in which elderly people are convinced that a grandchild is being held in custody in a foreign country and needs money, Greenwich Police said. The woman sent $3,000 to the scammers, who had created a scenario in which a phony "grandson" called and convinced the victim that he needed money to be sent in order to bail him out of a jail in a foreign country, police said. The scam was reported Friday.

Two Wounded In Legs In Shooting On Stamford's East Side, Police Say STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford Police were investigating a shooting that occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on the city's East Side. In an email, Capt. Richard Conklin said two men were shot in the legs on Grant Avenue. Several shots were fired in the incident, he said. The injuries were non-life-threatening, Conklin said.
