Stamford Woman Struck By Truck Suffers Serious Injuries, Gets A Ticket STAMFORD, Conn. -- A 55-year-old woman not only suffered three broken ribs and a compression fracture to her spine after she was struck by a pickup truck Monday night, but she was also given a verbal warning for failing to give the right of way to a vehicle later as she was lying in a hospital bed recovering from her injuries, police said. Thief Causes Damage But Doesn't Get Any Cash In Stamford Smash-And-Grab STAMFORD, Conn. -- A would-be thief caused damage but didn't get any cash in a smash-and-grab attempt late Wednesday, Stamford Police said. The thief used a piece of cement to smash a 21- by 16-inch hole in a glass door to gain entry to the hair salon Compliments by Rae at 908 E. Main St., police said. Norwalk Cops: Man Ticketed After Walking In Front Of Motorist NORWALK, Conn. — A 56-year-old Norwalk man suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning, police said. The accident occurred around 11 a.m. on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at Lowe Street when the possibly inebriated man walked out in front of the vehicle, police said. The man was issued a citation for improper use of the highway while the motorist was not cited, police said. Police did not release the man's name or details of his condition.

Police: Missing Easton Man, 23, Found Safe In Maine EASTON, Conn. -- A 23-year-old Easton man who had been reported missing by his family was found safe in Maine on Tuesday night, according to the Easton Courier. Easton police Chief Tim Shaw confirmed Wednesday morning that Nicholas Bodine was safe, the Courier said. His mother, Janet Haller, administrative assistant to the Easton first selectman, also thanked the police department for their help, the Courier said. Suspect In Ghost Mask Robbed Bank In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. — The suspect who robbed a bank on Main Avenue/Route 7 in Norwalk on Tuesday was disguised with a ghost mask, according to Norwalk police. Bethel Fire Marshal Warns Of Dangers Of Fireplace Ashes After Blazes BETHEL, Conn., -- The Bethel Fire Marshal is warning residents to properly dispose of fireplace ashes after three recent fires — including one in which a garden shed with thousands of dollars of property inside was destroyed.The fire marshal reminds residents to not discard ashes into the woods or onto leaves, plastic bags, or any other combustible container or space. Stamford Sex Assault Suspect Arrested In Traffic Stop With Stun Gun STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man — already facing serious sex assault-related charges — wound up with new criminal charges after a police officer found a stun gun in his vehicle after an early-morning traffic stop Tuesday, police said. DUI Enforcement In Norwalk Nabs Numerous Drivers NORWALK, Conn. — Three drivers were charged with driving while under the influence and one motorist was issued a ticket for not having a 2-year-old child in a seatbelt during a DUI checkpoint held Saturday along the West Avenue corridor, Norwalk Police said.
