House-Sitter Burglarized Family's Home, Say Stamford Police STAMFORD, Conn. -- A man who was supposed to be offering protection by house-sitting for a family while they were on vacation burglarized the home himself, Stamford police said. Joseph Noreikis, 34, of 60 Plainfield Ave., West Haven, was charged with second-degree larceny and third-degree burglary on Tuesday. Sgt. Video: Train Exhibit Winds Through Wilton Historical Society WILTON, Conn. -- You can still enjoy the Wilton Historical Society's Great Trains Exhibit, which runs through Monday, Jan. 19. Greenwich Police ID N.Y. Woman Killed By Car GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich police have identified the New York woman who died after being struck by a car while crossing King Street on Tuesday morning. Yani Baca, 51, of Elmsford, N.Y., died of her injuries at Greenwich Hospital. She was struck while she crossed King Street near Anderson Hill Road at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, Lt. Kraig Gray said Wednesday. Greenwich Police Seek Man Who Eluded Search Warrant GREENWICH, Conn. -- A man slipped away when officers arrived to execute a search warrant at his Cos Cob residence Monday evening, police said. Police were releasing few details about the incident, which occurred at about 6 p.m. The suspect "eluded police," said Lt. Kraig Gray despite a search that included a K-9 unit and a heavy police presence in the neighborhood. Gray said police have applied for an arrest warrant for the individual. He said the incident occurred in the area of Sinawoy Road.

Bridgeport Man Charged With Stealing From Elderly Wilton Man WILTON, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man missed a key element in a story he told police after they confronted him with allegations of stealing three personal checks from an elderly man he was caring for at a Wilton assisted living facility. Stamford Police Make Multiple Heroin Arrests In One Day STAMFORD, Conn. -- The arrests of five people in three separate drug busts show how heroin use is spreading in the area, Stamford police said.
