Man Charged In Handsaw Attack In Stamford That Injured Ex's New Boyfriend STAMFORD, Conn. -- An embittered ex-boyfriend slashed his former girlfriend's new boyfriend with a handsaw, leaving a deep, bloody wound in half of the man's hand in an ambush attack late Thursday, Stamford Police said. Cesar Olivero, 34, of 529 W. 179th St., Apt. 2A, New York City, was charged with first-degree assault causing serious physical injury, first-degree burglary, carrying a dangerous weapon, home invasion and third-degree assault. Greenwich Police To Participate In Three-Day Bike Ride To Fight ALS GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich police will be hitting the road Friday in a three-state bicycle ride to raise money to fight Lou Gehrig's disease, a degenerative condition that claimed the life of one of their fellow officers. The team will ride in the Tri-State Trek to raise money and awareness to battle amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, a disorder that involves the death of neurons in the brain. Teen Gets Tired Of Walking And Steals Bike, Stamford Police Say STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford teenager was charged with stealing a $3,000 bicycle early Wednesday after her became tired from walking, police said. Stephen Arzu, 18, of 70 Standish Road, was charged charged with third-degree larceny. His bond was set at $500, and his first court date is July 10. A 21-year-old Courtland Street man said he had been working on his two bicycles late Tuesday into early Wednesday on his front porch, police said. No Injuries Reported In Stamford Garage Fire; House Also Damaged STAMFORD, Conn. -- No one was hurt in a Thursday afternoon garage fire that also partially damaged an attached house, the Stamford Fire Department said. Firefighters responded to the blaze at 76 Highland Road at about 5:20 p.m. Upon arrival, a shed was found burning at the rear of the two-family house. Greenwich Police Use Fingerprints To Identify Wanted Man From Manhattan GREENWICH, Conn. -- A man found walking along the Merritt lied to Greenwich Police about his name on Monday, but a check of his fingerprints revealed his real name and the fact that he was wanted in New York, police said. Westport's Gault Energy Celebrates Make-a-wish Dream For 7-Year-Old Boy WESTPORT, Conn. -- A 7-year-old Stamford boy with cancer said he was overwhelmed that strangers made his dream come true by helping to pay for a trip for him and his family. Stamford Hotel Employee Charged With Using Fake $100 Bill To Buy Snacks STAMFORD, Conn. -- A hotel employee was nabbed after he used a $100 counterfeit bill to buy a couple of candy bars and a Gatorade at his hotel's gift store Tuesday, police said. Denzel Riddick, 21, of 11A Spring Hill Ave., Norwalk, was charged Tuesday afternoon with first-degree forgery.
