New Canaan Sidewalk Sale Helps Promote Nonprofits, Businesses NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- It wasn't only the sales that were important at the Village Fair & Sidewalk Sale in New Canaan on Saturday. Woman Charged With Stabbing Friend In Arm During Dispute In Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. -- As two women hurled ugly accusations of loose morals during a dispute Thursday afternoon, one of them stabbed her friend so forcefully that the tip of the knife lodged in the victim’s left forearm and chipped off a piece of her forearm bone, Stamford police said. The deep cut was 4 centimeters long, police said. Yuleisi Matos, 21, of 1205 Findlay St., the Bronx., N.Y., was charged with second-degree assault and risk of injury to a child. Crash With Overturned Car Jams Traffic On I-95 In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. — Traffic on I-95 southbound is jammed Friday afternoon due to a crash between Exits 3 and 2, according to Greenwich police. The accident involves an overturned motor vehicle, according to the state Department of Transportation. A police officer is blocking the entrance ramp at Exit 3 on Friday at about 1:15 p.m. due to the heavy volume of traffic in the area. The right lane of the highway is blocked. It was not clear from the DOT how long it would take to clear the accident scene.

Stamford Police: Two Handguns Found In Arrested Man's Apartment STAMFORD, Conn. -- A traffic stop for a motorist who rolled through a stop sign Wednesday morning turned into a major arrest for Stamford police as they picked up two handguns, marijuana, a scale and packaging material, police said. Rushane Randall, 25, of 252 Connecticut Ave., Stamford, was arrested on multiple charges. Woman Charged With Stealing $650,000 From Elderly Aunt In Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. -- A special education supervisor stole more than $650,000 from her elderly aunt to fund vacations in France, gambling and other expenses during a five-year period, Stamford police said. New Easton Police Chief Will Build On His Experiences In Stamford EASTON, Conn. -- Easton's new police chief is a former longtime Stamford police officer who was known for his effective narcotics investigations. Fairfield Man Charged In Bad Checks Case At Wilton Market WILTON, Conn., -- A Fairfield man is accused of passing five bad checks totaling about $445 at the Village Market in Wilton over the course of a couple of weeks in late May through early June, Wilton police said. Stamford Cops: Waterbury Man Used Counterfeit $100s To Buy Car STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man completed a deal May 31 to sell his 2007 Volkswagen Passat and went to deposit the $3,900 in $100 bills at his bank’s ATM, police said. But his sweet deal, arranged through a Craigslist.com posting, went south as the ATM refused to accept what the man discovered were counterfeit $100 bills, Stamford police said. Police began an investigation and reported the car as stolen. Stamford Boys & Girls Club Looking At Yerwood Center For More Space STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Stamford Boys & Girls Club is bursting at the seams and is looking for additional space for its after-school and summer camp programs.
