New Canaan Police Spot Running Teens, Beer, Red Cups As They Bust Party NEW CANAAN, Conn. — New Canaan officers acting on an anonymous tip about an underage drinking party saw multiple teens running into the woods as they arrived at a home on Butler Lane on Friday evening, police said.      In the backyard of the home, officers found red Dixie cups "arranged in beer pong-style fashion," an empty bottle of Smirnoff vodka and 30 cans of Bud Light beer, police said. Officers arrived at about 9:11 p.m. Friday. A 16-year-old New Canaan girl was given a summons for failure to halt possession of alcohol, police said.

Contractor Who Escaped Deadly Christmas Fire In Stamford Dies STAMFORD, Conn. — The contractor who escaped a deadly 2011 Christmas Day fire in a house in Stamford, where he was overseeing construction, has died.   Michael D. Borcina, a former Stamford resident and contractor, died Tuesday, Oct. 3. He was 58. Borcina died of cancer, the Hartford Courant reported.   The devastating fire in the house that was undergoing renovation in Shippan killed three sisters and their grandparents.
