Man Pleads Guilty To Stabbing Death Of Trumbull Native On D.C. Subway TRUMBULL, Conn. — The man who stabbed a Trumbull native to death on a subway in Washington, D.C., two years ago is facing three decades in prison after accepting a plea bargain Thursday, according to the Washington Post. Jasper Spires, 21, waived his right to trial and pleaded guilty to robbing and stabbing to death Kevin Sutherland with a knife on July 4, 2015, on a Metro train, the Post said. WestConn Expanding In-State Tuition To Students From NY, NJ, Puerto Rico DANBURY, Conn. — All students from New York and New Jersey will pay in-state tuition starting this fall at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury in an effort to boost enrollment, the Hartford Courant reported. The plan was approved Thursday by the state Board of Regents for Higher Education, the Courant said. Norwalk Contractor Charged With Bilking Homeowner Out Of $12K NEW CANAAN, Conn. — A 37-year-old Norwalk man was arrested after he failed to complete over $12,000 worth of plumbing and carpentry work at a New Canaan home, police said. Jose B. Ruiz, of 92 Cedar St., Apt. E9, turned himself in to police at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday in connection with the complaint. He was charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny. Greenwich Asked To Cut Water Use By 10% As Drought Conditions Continue GREENWICH, Conn. — As abnormally dry conditions continue, Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei is asking all town residents to reduce their water consumption by 10 percent.
