Trumbull Police Union Makes Donation In Honor Of Sandy Hook Psychologist TRUMBULL, Conn. — On Thursday, the fifth anniversary of the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the Trumbull Police Union made a donation to the Mary J. Sherlach Counseling Center. During November, Trumbull Police Officers were allowed to grow beards or goatees to raise money in an effort to support the Counseling Center. Danbury Teen Charged With Assaulting Pregnant Woman In Brookfield BROOKFIELD, Conn. — A Danbury teen was charged with third-degree assault of a pregnant woman during a domestic disturbance at a home in Brookfield, according to the News-Times. Jonathan Joyner, 19, of Danbury, was arrested at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home on Candlewood Lake Road, the News-Times said. Westport Police: Accused Embezzler Arrested After Missing Court Date WESTPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport man charged with embezzling $23,000 from his Westport employer earlier this year was re-arrested after failing to appear for a September court date, Westport police said. Michael McCrorken, 28, turned himself in to police on Dec. 5 and was charged with first-degree failure to appear. He was held on $25,000 bond for arraignment that day in Norwalk Superior Court. Monroe Native, 25, Joins New Canaan Police Force NEW CANAAN, Conn. — A Monroe native with a year of professional baseball under his belt will join the New Canaan Police Department. Robert Rizzitelli, 25, is from Monroe and is a graduate of Masuk High School. Rizzitelli was most recently employed by MEDPATH Partners as a clinical recruiter. Homeless Man Devoted To His Dog Gets New Place To Live In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. — Remember Joe and his dog, Bronson? Thanks to Diana Paladino Christopher, the next chapter is unfolding in the life of the formerly homeless Norwalk man. Many in the Norwalk community banded together last winter to help Joe, who lived in his van with his black Labrador retriever. (He agreed to be identified by only his first name.) At Least 40 Stratford Teachers Will Be Laid Off, Superintendent Says STRATFORD, Conn. — At least 40 teachers in Stratford will be laid off, starting in January, as part of an effort to cut $700,000 from the budget, according to the Stratford Star. School Superintendent Janet Robinson had proposed a two-day furlough for all district personnel, but that was rejected by the teachers union, the Star said. Funeral Services Set For Bridgeport Police Officer Thomas Lattanzio BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Services are scheduled for Thursday for Thomas J. Lattanzio, a 17-year veteran of the Bridgeport Police Department who died on Dec. 4. He was found dead in his car in Seaside Park in Bridgeport on Dec. 4 as a result of a suicide.
