Crushed: Monroe Home Damaged By Fallen Tree MONROE, Conn. — No one was injured when a tree fell on a house in Monroe on Sunday, the Stepney Volunteer Fire Department reported in a Facebook post. The incident happened Sunday afternoon when no one was home, the fire department said. The Stepney Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene for a little under an hour and assessed the home for any hazards while Eversource shut off power to the home. ' The fire department did not release the address of the home.

Body Recovered On Charles Island Off Silver Sands State Park MILFORD, Conn. — A body was located on the shore of Charles Island off Silver Sands State Park, and officials were trying to determine whether it was a Bridgeport man who was swept off a sandbar there last week, Milford police said via Twitter. Woman Dies In Overnight House Fire In Bridgeport BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — One woman died and two other residents were hospitalized after a fire destroyed a house early Sunday in Bridgeport, according to city spokeswoman.
