Two-Car Crash Snarls Traffic On Merritt Parkway In Trumbull TRUMBULL, Conn. — Crews from the Nichols Fire Department responded to a two-car crash Saturday on the northbound Merritt Parkway in Trumbull, according to a Facebook post. The crash occurred at about 12:10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 near Exit 52, the post said. Crews stabilized the damaged vehicle, applied speedy dry to the spilled fluids, and protected the scene for Trumbull EMS. Rescue 300 and Squad 309 responded to the scene on the northbound side of the Merritt Parkway. No further information was released on the crash.

Hundreds Without Power In Trumbull On Saturday Evening Update: The power outages have been restored in Trumbull as of late Saturday, UI said. TRUMBULL, Conn. — Hundreds of residents of Trumbull were without power Saturday evening, according to United Illuminating.  A power outage affecting 617 customers in town was reported at about 6:20 p.m. Saturday, UI said.  The estimated time of restoration was 10:30 p.m. Saturday, according to United Illuminating.

Car Bursts Into Flames After Slamming Into Rock Wall On Route 8 In Shelton SHELTON, Conn. — A car slammed into a rock wall and burst into flames Saturday morning on southbound Route 8 in Shelton, according to a Facebook post from Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Co. 1. Fire crews responded at about 8:15 a.m., the post said. They found a single motor vehicle on fire and up against the rock wall.  Injuries were reported in the crash, but no further details were reported.

Update: Missing Brother, 6, And Sister, 12, From Bridgeport Found Safe BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Silver Alert for a 6-year-old brother and 12-year-old sister was canceled after the two were found safe Saturday morning, according to a Facebook post. "The two missing Bridgeport children Catherine and Darwin Perez have been found and both are fine! Silver alert canceled," Bridgeport police said in a Facebook post. The children had been missing late Friday night but were found safe at about 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Police had been searching for the two children.
