Firefighters from across the area responded to fight the blaze in a house at 60 Candlewood Lake Road in Brookfield.  The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department's line officers were all at HQ for the monthly officers meeting and were quick to respond. She was 99.  Born in Stamford on April 2, 1918, Byrnes was the eldest child of Patrick and Elizabeth Byrnes. Gas Prices Up In Connecticut; Rank As 10th Highest In Nation Connecticut has moved up to 10th place on the list of states with the most expensive average gas prices in the nation, according to AAA Northeast.  The Nutmeg State had hovered at 11th and 12th place for most of the spring and summer. As of this week, Connecticut’s average gas price increased 2 cents to $2.48 per gallon, compared to last week. Compared to this time last year, prices are 24 cents per gallon higher, says AAA Northeast.
