New Canaan Running Club Hosts Meet At Waveny Park NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The New Canaan Running Club hosted Wilton and New Fairfield in a youth cross country meet at Waveny Park on Wednesday. The young runners are coached by Bill Martin, the cross country and track and field coach at New Canaan High School. The team is sponsored by New Balance New Canaan. New Canaan had 19 boys and 14 girls in Wednesday’s race. Wilton won the boys and girls events. Staples' DeBalsi Wins Girls Individual Cross Country Crown WESTPORT, Conn. – Staples sophomore Hannah DeBalsi won the girls individual title Thursday at the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference cross country championships at Waveny Park in New Canaan. Ridgefield Sweeps Boys, Girls Cross Country Championships RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – The Ridgefield High School boys and girls cross country teams won team titles Thursday at the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championships at Waveny Park in New Canaan. The boys won with 27 points and easily defeated Darien, the top-ranked team in the state, which finished with 59. Trevor Hopper won the boys race. Ridgefield’s girls narrowly edged Staples, 52-57.
