Norwalk Soccer Community Mourns Dino Melitsanopoulos NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk soccer community mourned the death Friday of Dino Melitsanopoulos, a longtime supporter of the Norwalk High School and Beachside Soccer Club programs. Melitsanopoulos was also president of Atlas Realty Group in Norwalk and a 1980 graduate of Norwalk High School. He was believed to be 51. He was a fixture on the sidelines and stands of soccer games in Norwalk and throughout Fairfield County. His sons Paul, Dean and Andrew were all soccer standouts in Norwalk and Beachside. Jennifer Sedney, 27, Ridgefield High Graduate RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Jennifer Anne Sedney of Ridgefield, 27, died unexpectedly on Dec. 25. Sedney was a 2004 graduate of Ridgefield High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Michigan. She worked as a healthcare consultant for Vymanic in Philadelphia. According to information sent by the family to The Ridgefield Press, she also loved cooking, running and spending time with her family. Harvey Meets Briarcliff In Boys Basketball Tournament KATONAH, N.Y. -- Harvey and Briarcliff High School tip off the Tappan Zee Holiday Basketball Tournament Friday. Young Swimmers Race In Greenwich Town Championships GREENWICH, Conn. -- More than 300 swimmers from the town’s age group teams took to the water Saturday at Greenwich High School for the 13th Annual Greenwich Town Swimming Championships. Westport Runner Finishes 5th In Final Cross Country Rankings FAIRFIELD COIUNTY, Conn. – Westport’s Hannah DeBalsi was ranked fifth and Darien’s Alex Ostberg finished 29th in the nation in the final cross country Top 100 lists published Saturday by RunnerSpace.com. DeBalsi, a sophomore, finished second in the Foot Locker national championships earlier this month. She was also the Connecticut and New England champion. Young Norwalk Wrestlers Hit The Mats In Holiday Tournament NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Mad Bulls wrestling club competed Sunday at the Bristol Gladiator Holiday Wrestling tournament held in Bristol. The tournament featured more than 550 young wrestlers from Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts. “It was a nice blend of seasoned wrestlers and journeymen working their moves today, we saw some great bouts all day long, it’s rewarding to see the new kids battle and work their technique and being competitive in every match” said Randy Haus, program director for the Mad Bulls. Snow, Ice Don't Hold Back Work On Norwalk River Valley Trail WILTON, Conn. -- December’s snow and ice have not held back the Norwalk River Valley Trail. When I met Josh Ryan and his Timber & Stone construction team a month ago, they were making phenomenal progress on the half-mile demonstration trail between Orem’s Diner and Raymond Lane. Clearing blowdowns and excavating the trail were nearly done, surfacing was underway. But Josh warned that bad weather could set things back.
