Cuomo Announces Two-Year Deal With Con Ed To Freeze Rates WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a joint agreement with Con Edison on Tuesday that includes a two-year electric delivery rate freeze and a three-year gas and steam distribution rate freeze starting Jan. 1, 2014. The agreement also requires the utility to make significant investments to strengthen the resiliency of the energy grid, improve energy efficiency, and accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more distributed energy system. Norwalk Youth Basketball Teams Win Wakeman Tournament NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk Youth Basketball Association fifth and sixth grade teams won titles in the Wakeman Center’s second annual Holiday Hoop Fest in Fairfield. The fifth grade kicked off the tournament Thursday morning by defeating an aggressive Waterbury team, 40-34. Later that day, they outscored the Fairfield-based AAU team, PHD, 36-31, to advance to the finals, where they beat PHD for the second time in two days, 38-33. Ridgefield Man Arrested In Connection With Deadly Greenwich Accident GREENWICH, Conn. – A Ridgefield, Conn., man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident early Saturday that killed a Middlebury woman, police said. Vyacheslav Cherepov, 26, of Danbury Road in Ridgefield, has been arrested, Greenwich police said Monday. Meghan Beebe, 21, was killed in the hit-and-run accident. Cherepov struck Beebe in the parking lot of a Byram-area restaurant early Saturday, police said. He stopped briefly and then drove away, dragging her under his car, police said. Harvey Boys Basketball Team Drops Pair In Tappan Zee Tourney BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The Harvey School’s boys basketball team lost to Briarcliff, 66-55, and Valley Central, 73-54, in the Tappan Zee Dan Dinan Tournament over the weekend. Despite the losses, coach Dom Narcisco thought his team “hung tough” against the two larger public schools. Harvey played without several starters. Florida Will Soon Surpass New York In Population, Report Says WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y.— Florida will soon surpass New York as the third most populated state in the country, according to a story in the New York Times.
