New Canaan Swimmer Helps Wahoos Team Win State, Regional Meets NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A New Canaan swimmer helped the Wilton Y Wahoos swim team win the Connecticut YMCA State Championship and Connecticut Regional Championship in recent meets. At the YMCA State championships,  the Wahoos won the title for the 27th year in a row. The Wahoos also won the regional championship, and the 13-14-year-old boys won their division. Anthony P. Alfano, 75, Longtime New Rochelle Resident NEW ROCHELLE, Conn. -- Anthony P. Alfano, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died March 22. He was 75. Alfano was born April 2, 1938, in New Rochelle to Giuseppe and Giovannina (Cecere) Alfano. He served in the U. S. Army, and worked for many years with New Rochelle Water Company (later renamed United Water). He is survived by his wife, Ann (Cacciola) Alfano; one brother; four sons; one daughter; and 12 grandchildren. Memorial service was attended on March 29, by family and close friends.
