More Than 1,000 Attend Slain Sisters' Funeral In Harrison HARRISON, N.Y. -- More than 1,000 gathered at St. Gregory the Great Church in Harrison at a funeral mass for Alissa and Deana Hochman. The sisters, ages 17 and 13, of Harrison were murdered by their father, a retired White Plains police officer who then killed himself on Saturday, Feb. 21. Photos from the service are attached here. Peekskill Girls Hold Off Rye, Head For Third Straight Sectional Final WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Down the stretch it was No. 2 Peekskill that was able to impose its will, earning a 60-56 win over third-seeded Rye in the Section 1 Class A semifinals at the Westchester County Center on Thursday. Peekskill (18-3) advances to the finals for the third consecutive year, and will face either No. 1 Albertus Magnus or No. 13 Tappan Zee in the Class A final, scheduled for Sunday at 5 p.m. The Red Devils were sparked by junior Lanay Rodney's 32 points Rye (16-5) was paced by junior Maddie Eck's 22-point effort. Sophomore Katie Popp added 18 points.

Yorktown, Edgemont Mix It Up On Hardwood YORKTOWN, N.Y. - The Edgemont Sharphooters and Yorktown Green eighth-grade basketball teams mixed it up on the hardwood Sunday at the Mildred E. Strang Middle School, with Yorktown walking off with a 51-40 victory. Myles Proctor had 12 points for Yorktown, which improved to 16-8. Anthony Fusco had eight for Yorktown, and Sergio Spiniello and Sunjo Mainsah each had five. Edgemont, coached by Jon Lewis, fell to 4-6.

Youth Players Enjoy Hoop-La In Yorktown YORKTOWN, N.Y. - The YAC seventh-grade basketball team hosted New Rochelle Saturday at the Mildred E. Strang Middle School in rec league action, with New Rochelle pulling out a close game, 45-44, on a buzzer-beater from Dylan Farley. New Rochelle improved to 8-3, while Yorktown fell to 17-10. Farley led all scorers with 20, and Elijah Wood had six points for New Rochelle. Mii Hirolu led Yorktown with 11 points, and Eddie Capone added nine.

Area Residents Flock To Danbury Fair Mall As The Snow Flies DANBURY, Conn. -- Saturday dawned with frigid temperatures below zero in Danbury. As the day warmed up into the teens and 20s, snow began to fly.  Area residents who were feeling housebound by the winter that won't end headed to one of the warmest spots in town: the Danbury Fair Mall.  The carousel and children's play area offered a respite for parents and kids alike. Snow, meanwhile, piled up across the parking lot and the landscape.  A total of 2 to 5 inches of snow had fallen across Fairfield County by Saturday, with more snow and freezing rain expected overnight.
