Man Killed In Newark Shooting ID'ed: Prosecutor A 34-year-old Newark man was fatally shot on the early morning of Saturday, April 5, authorities said. Bashir Pebbles was found with multiple gunshot wounds near South 17th Street and Madison Avenue, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. He was transferred to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said. This was the second shooting in Newark this past weekend. A man is in stable condition after being shot Sunday near New Horizons Charter School.

Jersey City Man Stole Auto Parts From Property: Mount Olive PD A 63-year-old Jersey City man was arrested and charged on Sunday, March 30, with stealing auto parts from a property in Budd Lake, authorities said. At 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a home on Continental Drive on a report of a theft, Mount Olive police said. The property owner told police he observed a maroon GMC pickup truck parked on his property, police said. The owner said he saw two men loading auto parts into the back of the truck, which fled the scene prior to police arrival, law enforcement said. Two Men Who Murdered Teen During Vineland Robbery Learn Fate: Prosecutor Two men received lengthy prison sentences on Friday, April 4, after being convicted of murdering a 15-year-old during a 2022 robbery in Vineland, authorities said. Deshawn Bowen, a 25-year-old Bridgeton resident and Rohdane Watson, a 20-year-old Vineland resident, were previously convicted of felony murder, aggravated manslaughter and robbery in February, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said. Man Shot In Newark Near School: Police A man is in stable condition after he was shot in Newark on Sunday, April 6, authorities said. At 3:56 p.m., officers responded to 14th Avenue and Hayes Street and found the injured man, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said. The shooting occurred just steps away from New Horizons Charter School. The man was taken to University Hospital while the shooting remains under investigation, Miranda said.
