Elderly Greenwich Woman Narrowly Avoids Being Distraction Burglary Victim GREENWICH, Conn. -- An elderly Greenwich resident narrowly avoided being a victim of a “distraction burglary” Thursday by a man posing as a water company representative, according to police. The woman let the man in to check her water pressure and water meter after he had produced some form of identification, said Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray. Stamford School Board Approves $267 Million Operating Budget STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Stamford Board of Education approved a $267 million operating budget — an increase of 4.72 percent more than its current operating budget — at a special meeting Wednesday night. The approved budget — which totals $267,153,563 — was a reduction of $663,769 from the superintendent's budget request of $267,817,332. Assistant Principal Resigns At Greenwich's Hamilton Avenue School GREENWICH, Conn. -- Hamilton Avenue School's assistant principal has resigned for personal reasons and an interim assistant principal has been appointed, the Greenwich School District announced.
