Vinny's Backyard In Stamford Wins DVlicious 'Best Wings' Contest STAMFORD, Conn. -- Talk about "amaze-wing!" Vinny's Backyard in Stamford has won the DVlicious "Best Wings in Fairfield County" contest as chosen by Daily Voice readers with 36 percent of the vote. The eatery offers seven wing options with the "original" spicy Buffalo being the hands-down favorite. Go here for previous story. The restaurant will be awarded with a DVlicious plaque along with the bragging rights of being a Fairfield County wing icon. For the record, B.J. Ryan's in Norwalk came in second with 30 percent. Quick Action By Stamford Firefighters Prevents Spread Of Condo Fire STAMFORD, Conn. -- No one was hurt in a fire at 637 Cove Road on Sunday night, Stamford firefighters said. Firefighters were called at 6:57 p.m. on reports of smoke coming out of a two-story condominium unit. Further investigation led firefighters to go to the floor below, where they found a fire in a bathroom of a first floor apartment. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and found that it had traveled up the inside of the walls, past the second floor, and to the roof area. Stamford Men Facing Weapons Charges After Wilton Traffic Stop WILTON, Conn. -- A police stop of a vehicle without lights on turned out to be lights out for a pair of Stamford men who were arrested on weapons charges, Wilton police said. At 3 a.m. Saturday, officers stopped a Mercury SUV on Danbury Road in Wilton, police said. During the stop, the officer detected the smell of marijuana and soon after conducted a search of the vehicle, police said. Officers discovered a pistol, a set of brass knuckles, amphetamine pills and a small amount of marijuana in the car, police said. Fans Big And Small From Across Fairfield County Cheer For Balloon Parade STAMFORD, Conn. -- Thousands of people thrilled to giant helium balloons and marching bands at the annual UBS Parade Spectacular that marched through downtown Stamford on a cloudy Sunday afternoon. Cos Cob Woman Charged With Assaulting Family Member While Driving GREENWICH, Conn. — A Greenwich woman is facing a variety of charges in connection with an assault on two family members in a dispute that began while they were driving in Stamford on Wednesday night, police said. Keri Lynne Devlin, 33, was driving in Stamford when the dispute began, Greenwich police said. Devlin pushed a family member out of the vehicle, causing her to strike her face on a cement sidewalk, police said. Greenwich Police Give 'Mystery' Man A 'Public Disturbance' Ticket GREENWICH, Conn., -- Greenwich police have identified a man who was allegedly in a confrontation with a teacher and a student on Greenwich High School property at about 3:40 p.m. Monday and issued him a ticket. He has been identified as Roy Tiska, police said. Tiska has been issued an infraction complaint ticket on a charge of creating a public disturbance and issued a ticket that comes with a $103 fine, police said. Greenwich Police had asked for the public's help in identifying the man and had released a grainy photo of heavy-set man in a coat, baseball hat and glasses.
