An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Joan Lunden Discussing Breast Cancer Battle At CBY Armonk Joan Lunden's tale of survival will be heard firsthand in Armonk. Lunden will be speaking at Congregation B'nai Yisrael in Armonk to talk about her new book, "Had I Known: A Memoir of Survival," on Friday, June 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In June 2014, Lunden, who anchored "Good Morning America" for 17 years, was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, which required chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. Dutchess Woman Is Oldest Person in New York At Age 113 Vera Van Wagner, who turned 113 last week, was honored for being Dutchess' first supercentenarian as the Office of the Aging celebrated its 19th annual Celebration of Aging, honoring its Senior Citizens Of The Year in Wappingers Falls.Wagner is the oldest living person in New York, the oldest ever Dutchess County resident, the third oldest person in the United States and the 27th oldest person in the world. Mohegan Lake Man Slaps Victim Twice, Police Say MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. -- A Mohegan Lake man was issued a criminal summons for allegedly slapping someone in the face twice, Yorktown Police said. Christian DeMatteis, 43, was issued the summons on May 29 for harassment in the second degree, a violation for a domestic incident that occurred on May 13, police said. DeMatteis is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, June 6.

Custodian Worked In Ossining School Despite Sex Abuse Charges A custodian worked at Brookside Elementary School in Ossining, while being charged and eventually convicted of sexually abusing a minor in Poughkeepsie, Ossining Union Free School District Superintendent Raymond Sanchez said. Samuel Campbell was convicted and sent to prison on May 1, Sanchez said. Campbell was arrested in April 2016 and was not arraigned until February, 2017, Sanchez said. Putnam Legislature Appoints New Counsel PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Robert Firriolo is the new legislative counsel for the Putnam County Legislature. Firriolo, who lives in Carmel, was appointed unanimously May 25. His post runs through Dec. 31. Firriolo is currently a partner at Boutin Altieri where he practices litigation, with a concentration in commercial, insurance, firearms and environmental matters. He volunteers with the Knights of Columbus in Carmel and the Boy Scouts in Patterson. Firrolo replaces Clement Van Ross, whose contract was not renewed.
