Former Briarcliff Teacher Charged After Contacting Student Daniel Lavelle, who previously taught social studies at Briarcliff High School was arrested and charged Wednesday night with endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. Lavelle had recently been in contact with at least one Briarcliff High School student via text and social media, Superintendent James Kaishian said in a letter to parents. George Bailey, 99, White Plains Minister George Bailey lived a wonderful life. Bailey, who was a minister at United Methodist Churches in White Plains and Mamaroneck, serving as fire chaplain for the Mamaroneck Volunteer Fire Department, died May 22 with his family by his side.  Born on Nov. 20, 1917, in Vermont, Bailey graduated from Rutland High School and later attended Syracuse University where he ran track and cross country.
