Yorktown Police Dispose of 212 Pounds of Prescription Drugs YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The prescription drug disposal unit in Yorktown set up by the Alliance for Safe Kids and the Yorktown Police Department recently is doing what it can to help fight the opioid epidemic. On Tuesday, the Yorktown Police Department disposed of 212 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter drugs. The unit was installed in May of 2012 and has since collected 2,834 lbs of drugs from the medicine cabinets of local residents – about 46 lbs a month.
