State Replacing Drinking Water Lines In Poughkeepsie Newburgh, the City of Poughkeepsie and Middletown are receiving more than $2 million from the state to help clean up its water. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday the three municipalities were one of several as part of a $20 million initiative to replace residential drinking water lead service lines as part of New York's Clean Water Infrastructure Act of 2017. Pleasantville Honoring Football Champs With Parade PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The Pleasantville Panthers championship football team will be parading down its own Canyon of Heroes Sunday. The village announced the parade for the Panthers, who won the Class B State Championship last week by defeating Chenango Folks 28-14 in Syracuse. It was the first ever state title for the Panthers. The "Parade of Champions" will begin at 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Wheeler Avenue and Bedford Road and proceed along Bedford Road, then march south on Romer Avenue to terminate at the High School Circle, the village said on its Facebook page.

Walter Panas Volleyball Repeats As State Champs CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- The Walter Panas volleyball team are champions again. For the second straight year, the team won the New York State Class A title, defeating Williamsville East in straight sets, 25-14, 25-19 and 25-16 at the tournament in Glens Falls last week. Upon returning home, the team received an escort from the Westchester County Police, and the Lake Mohegan Fire Department and Ambulance Corps and were greeted by fans in the school parking lot.
