Fairfield American Steps To The Plate Sunday For Game 2 Of World Series FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The boys on the Fairfield American team will continue their storied summer as they take the field Sunday morning for their second game in the Little League World Series.   The game is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Lamade Stadium in Williamsport, Pa. Fairfield American, the New England champions, will take on the team from Lufkin, Texas, the Southwest champions. Injured Jet Skier Rescued From Housatonic River By Shelton Firefighters SHELTON, Conn. — A person injured in a jet ski collision was found clinging to the boat of a Good Samaritan on Saturday in the Housatonic River, according to the Shelton Fire Department. The accident happened near the Sikorsky Bridge, according to a Facebook post.  While out on the water, members of Marine 1 Company 4 were able to pull the man from the water and transport him to the dock, the post said.  They moved the injured man to an ambulance.  No further information was released on the accident.

Driver Sent To Hospital After Rollover Crash On Route 8 SHELTON, Conn. — A person was ejected from a car during a rollover crash on Route 8 in Shelton late Friday afternoon, according to a Facebook post from Echo Hose and Fire Company. At 4:53 p.m., fire companies responded to the motor vehicle accident on Route 8 south near Exit 11, the post said.  Squad 1 and Engine 2 found a vehicle that rolled over with the occupant ejected. The person was treated and transported to the hospital by EMS. No further information was released on the accident.

Downed Tree Takes Out Power Lines In Shelton SHELTON, Conn. — The Huntington Fire Co. responded to a call that was close to home as they were returning Thursday night to "3 House," according to a Facebook post.They were dispatched to a tree down with live wires across Huntington Street, the post said.   A crew from United Illuminated arrived shortly thereafter to repair the damage, and the road was reopened.

Pedestrian Killed On High Ridge Road ID'd As 89-Year-Old Stamford Man STAMFORD, Conn. — The man who was struck and killed late Thursday while crossing High Ridge Road has been identified as an 89-year-old neighborhood resident, the Advocate said. Sanh Truong, of Square Acre Drive, was not in a crosswalk when he was hit by a Toyota Prius while crossing from west to east near Burger King at 11:25 p.m., the Advocate said.  He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He was not carrying any identification, and it took many hours for Stamford Police to identify him.
