New Canaan Divers Help Whirlwind Win Own Invitational NEW CANAAN, Conn. --  The  New Canaan YMCA Whirlwind Diving Team captured the team first place prize at the annual Whirlwind Winter Weekend Invitational Diving Meet held at the New Canaan YMCA last weekend. There were 214 registered divers competing for 18 teams at the meet.  Whirlwind easily won in both the boys and the girls team competitions for a total combined score of 483.50 points, besting the second place team, High Dive Champions of Purchase, NY, by over 65 points. Figure Skater Who Trained In Yonkers Completes Competition At Olympics WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – United States figure skater Felicia Zhang, who once trained in Yonkers, finished in 12th place Wednesday with partner Nathan Bartholomay in the Winter Olympics at Sochi, Russia. Zhang and Bartholomay moved up two spots after Tuesday's short program. Their total of 110.31 was the 12th best score in the long program. Russia went 1-2 in the pairs, and Germany took third. The game is scheduled to faceoff at 7:30 a.m. EST on Thursday. Slovakia is also playing in its first game. Shattenkirk, 24, is a defenseman for the St. Louis Blues.
