Elaine Harris Woodward, 91, Former Realtor In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. – Elaine Harris Woodward, formerly of Norwalk, died on March 3, in Naples, Fla. She was 91. Woodward was born in Greenwich to Dora and Edwin Harris. She graduated from Norwalk High School and attended Northwestern University. She entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 as a telegraph operator. She was a well-known Realtor in Norwalk, where she founded Woodward and McElroy with her friend, Margaret McElroy. Woodward was also a champion golfer. Consumer Assessment Ranks Greenwich Hospital No. 1 In Connecticut GREENWICH, Conn. -- Recent data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems shows that Greenwich Hospital scored the highest ranking for both “overall rating” and “willingness to recommend” in the state of Connecticut. Greenwich Hospital also had the highest ranking among nearby hospitals in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Dutchess counties. Stamford Girls Basketball Team Wins League Title, Rolls To 29 Wins STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Stamford Youngtimers 8th Grade Travel Team captured the Fairfield County Basketball League AA Division Championship with a 63-52 win over Waterbury-North End on March 8 at Darien High School. The Youngtimers, who finished the season at 29-2 avenged a loss to Waterbury from early January. Waterbury controlled the glass in the opening period with a 19-9 advantage, but Stamford managed to stand at a tie at 14 after one quarter. Norwalk High Hosts Winter Guard, Percussion Show On Saturday NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk High School will host the Music Arts Conference 2014 Winter Guard and Percussion Home Show on Saturday, March 15. Norwalk Mad Bulls Girl Wins Title At State Wrestling Championships NORWALK, Conn. -- Madeleine Gordon, Anna Haus and Cali Gilchrist represented the Norwalk Mad Bulls in the girls youth state championships Sunday in Thomaston. Former Greens Farm Star In Westport Earns All-Freshman Honors At Rice GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich resident and former Greens Farms Academy star Sean Obi, a freshman basketball player at Rice University, was named Tuesday to the Conference USA All-Freshman team. Rice's season ended Tuesday with a first-round loss to North Texas in the C-USA Tournament. The Owls went 7-23 this season. Obi finished second on the team in scoring with 11.4 points per game and led C-USA during the regular season with a 9.3 rebounding average. Stamford Hockey Player Signs Free Agent Deal With Rangers STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford native Ryan Haggerty signed a free-agent contract Wednesday with the New York Rangers hockey team and will forego his final season at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
