'American Girl' Author Valerie Tripp Visiting Mount Kisco, Katonah MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Mount Kisco native Valerie Tripp, the author of the popular "American Girl" book series, will be returning to her home town on Saturday. Tripp's visit is part of a fundraiser for Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC), which announced the occasion and details. Judge OK's CVS Purchase Of Yonkers A&P WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Federal bankruptcy Judge Robert Drain gave his approval on Thursday of pharmacy chain CVS' purchase of a Yonkers A&P store. The transaction is structured that CVS' purchase is in form of taking over the bankruptcy grocer's lease. The purchased is for $4.575 million. Stop & Shop Could Start Mount Kisco A&P Conversion Next Week MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Stop & Shop announced that it could begin the conversion of the former Mount Kisco A&P, which it acquired out of bankruptcy, as soon as next Friday. Don Sussman, president of Stop & Shop's New York Metro Division, announced the tentative timetable in a Thursday press release. Should the switch begin as planned, according to Sussman, the store would close on Nov. 13 and reopen on Thursday, Nov. 19. Millwood A&P Sale On Hold Due To Landlord Objection MILLWOOD, N.Y. -- The proposed $2.4 million sale of the Millwood A&P to an entity owned by Jaime Luna will have to wait, as the bankrupt grocery chain's landlord is seeking an adequate assurance of future financial performance. P. Daniel Hollis, attorney for landlord Millwood Center, LLC, told bankruptcy Judge Robert Drain at a Thursday hearing that his client's mortgage is up next year and that a refinancing is planned. Somers Town Board Incumbents Cruise To Re-Election SOMERS, N.Y. -- Somers Supervisor Rick Morrissey, along with Councilmen Richard Clinchy and Thomas Garrity, easily won re-election to their seats, according to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections. The trio ran unopposed. The unofficial results show that Morrissey received 1,309 votes Clinchy with 1,525 and Garrity with 1,587. Scott, Roberts Win Bedford Council Races; Burdick Heads To Re-Election (This story has been updated) BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Incumbent Don Scott and former Supervisor Lee Roberts have won the races for a pair of council seats on the Bedford Town Board, according to unofficial results released on Tuesday by the Westchester County Board of Elections. Bedford's Corcoran Wins County Legislator Seat BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Bedford town Councilman Francis Corcoran has defeated Mount Kisco village Trustee Karen Schleimer to win an open seat in the Westchester County Board of Legislators, according to unofficial results. Golisano Leads In North Salem Council Race; Other Seat Part Of Tie NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Challenger Brent Golisano hold a sizable lead in his bid for a North Salem council seat, while running mate Lisa Douglas and incumbent Martin Aronchick are tied for the other seat, according to unofficial results released Tuesday by the Westchester County Board of Elections.
