An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Resorts World Holding Job Fair In Hudson Valley Want to work in a casino? The State Labor Department is hosting jobs fairs for Resorts World Catskills, which is opening in Sullivan County. Job fairs are being held Wednesday, Jan. 17 from noon to 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn at 68 Crystal Run Road in Middletown and on Wednesday, Jan. 24 from noon to 7 p.m. at Courtyard by Marriott at 24 Crystal Run Crossing in Middletown.  Some of the current positions include bartenders, cocktail servers, cage cashiers, cooks, servers, housekeepers, stewards, and security.  For more information, click here.

Dutchess Gets $2.2 Million For Water Projects DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- The state is helping Dutchess County improve its infrastructure and protect its land.  The county was awarded $2.2 million from the state Department of Environmental Conservation for three water quality improvement projects. The Town of Poughkeepsie is getting $28,063 to purchase and install mapping software that will be used to electronically map the existing town infrastructure. The project will enable the town to manage its entire water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure system.  The Dutchess Land Conservancy is getting $982,290 to buy a conservation easement …

Man Harassed Yorktown Officer 32 Times, Police Say A 51-year-old Peekskill man was arrested and charged after police say he left 32 harassing messages for a police officer. Peter Bub was charged with 32 counts of aggravated harassment in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor. Police say the harassment occurred between June 14, 2017, and Nov. 29, 2017. Bub was located and arrested and was released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on Jan. 13.

Indian Point Workers Authorize Strike Employees of Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan could be going on strike as early as next week. More than 300 members of Local 1-2, the Utility Workers of America, which represents employees of the nuclear power plant in Northern Westchester, voted to authorize a strike on Thursday. Yonkers Man Throws Dog Down Two Flights Of Stairs, Police Say A Westchester man was arrested by the SPCA's Humane Law Enforcement Unit after police say he threw a dog down two flights of stairs. Frank Gallo, Sr. of Yonkers was charged with animal cruelty. The SPCA received a call to its confidential animal cruelty hotline on Tuesday saying a pit bull, Riley, was allegedly picked up by its neck in a chokehold and violently thrown down two flights of stairs by Grillo. Riley was rushed to a local veterinary hospital for medical attention. His injuries were not serious, the SPCA said.
