NORWALK, Conn. -- Volunteers are invited to join in a Five Mile River Source to Sound cleanup of watershed areas through the Norwalk area to Long Island Sound on Saturday at Norwalk Community College.Anyone interested in joining can meet at 11 a.m. at the entrance to the Science, Health and Wellness Building at NCC, 188 Richards Ave., Norwalk. HEWITT, N.J. -- Civil War history comes to life during the first weekend of October at the Long Pond Ironworks Museum in West Milford's Hewitt community.In cooperation with the 6th New Hampshire Volunteers, the Civil War Weekend features live presentations, camp tours, military drills and demonstrations depicting a Civil War soldier's life. Norwalk Police Seek Public's Help In Car Burglary Probe
NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police are looking for help from the public in getting to the bottom of a car burglary in the early morning Sept. 6 at an apartment complex on Oakwood Avenue, police said.Police posted photos they say are from the incident on their Facebook page. An iPad was taken from a Ford truck in the parking lot, but police say two suspects attempted to break into several cars. Police say two men used a black BMW with chrome rims and no front plate. Norwood Preschoolers Fill Backpacks For Children In Need
NORWOOD, N. J. -- Students in the Preschool 2 class at The Goddard School in Norwood collected and donated more than 50 backpacks filled with school supplies for The Center for Hope and Safety in Hackensack, an organization that supports victims of domestic violence.With the help of teachers Cheryl Pascal and Gina Stevens, the backpacks were given to children in need. Judge Allows White Plains Wrongful Death Lawsuit To Proceed
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Despite efforts to have the case thrown out of court, a family's $21 million lawsuit against White Plains over the shooting death of 68-year-old Kenneth Chamberlain Sr. in his White Plains home is set to go to trial, according to a News 12 report.A judge ruled the case can go forward and set a trial date for Nov. 7, News 12 says. School Officials Working To Replace Failed Boiler At Redding Elementary
REDDING, Conn. -- School officials are promising to correct mistakes made surrounding the installation of a $70,000 boiler at Redding Elementary School, according to The Redding Pilot. School administrators did not get permission before starting the summer project, and district officials did not have the necessary permits, the Pilot said.
