New Canaan Man Arrested Six Weeks After Traffic Incident NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A man who didn't stop for police on Nov. 17 and refused to speak with them when they showed up at his residence turned himself into New Canaan Police Charged with interfering with an officer and driving with a suspended license is Cory P. Bridgeport Man Dies Of Injuries Three Weeks After Shooting BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A 23-year-old Bridgeport man died on New Year's Day — three weeks after he was shot while walking on a city street, according to police. Alexander Davis was struck by gunfire while walking near the intersection of Brooks Street and Jane Street on Dec. 11, police said. He has been in Bridgeport Hospital since the day of the shooting. An autopsy was performed Tuesday by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner, who ruled that Davis's death was classified as a homicide. Davis's death is the first homicide in Bridgeport in 2017. Woman Leads Darien Police On High Speed Pursuit; Arrested In Stamford Attic DARIEN, Conn. -- A woman who led Darien Police on a high speed chase up to 75 miles per hour on the Post Road early Monday was arrested a little more than 12 hours later squatting in the attic of a home under renovation in Stamford. Reward Offered After Vandals Slash Winter Solstice Banner In Shelton SHELTON, Conn. -- A free-thought, anti-religion group is offering a $1,500 reward after its banner celebrating the winter solstice was vandalized on Huntington Green in Shelton. Jerry Bloom, a member of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, with the help of John Levin and Cary Shaw, recently put up the winter solstice banner in response to a nativity scene on the green. Bridgeport Police Seek Public's Help In Finding Murder Suspect BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Bridgeport Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in finding Douglas Rivas, 34, who is wanted for the murder of 36-year-old Cristibal Hernandez. Hernandez was fatally shot at 10 p.m. Sept. 25 after a fight broke out inside El Paraiso Restaurant. There is an active warrant for the arrest of Rivas on murder and weapons charges. The bond is set at $1 million for him. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Douglas Rivas is asked to call police at 203-576-TIPS (8477). All information will remain confidential.

Firefighters Tackle Burning Garage At New Canaan Home NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Firefighters from New Canaan and surrounding towns descended on a rural property in New Canaan to battle a heavy blaze in a garage attached to a home on Friday afternoon. New Canaan Fire Chief Jack Hennessey said the fire started in the garage and was contained to that part of the structure. "We kept it in the garage. Westport Police Dog Sniffs Out Heroin In Vehicle WESTPORT, Conn. -- A nervous driver in a speeding car was arrested on drug charges early Friday, Westport Police said. Remington Woodhull, 25, of Westport was charged with possession of narcotics. His bond was set at $1,500 and his first scheduled court date is Jan. 10. Bethel Man Faces Federal Drug Charges After Two Overdose Deaths BETHEL, Conn. -- A Bethel man is facing federal drug distribution charges in connection with the overdose deaths of two women in Bethel, the U.S. attorney for Connecticut announced Thursday. Paul Mignani, 51, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with possession with intent to distribute, and distribution, of heroin and cocaine. Stamford Police Find Passenger With Pellet Gun After Stopping Jaguar STAMFORD, Conn. -- A traffic stop of a blue Jaguar turned up a passenger with a pellet gun rifle, Stamford police said. Just before 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, Officers Michael Montanaro and Damien Rosa noticed a blue Jaguar cross a double yellow line on Henry Street in Stamford, Sgt. Jennifer Lynch said.
