France-Bound Passenger Found With Loaded Magazine, Handgun At Newark Airport: TSA A Westchester County, NY man traveling to France was arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport on Tuesday, Aug. 6 after he had a gun and ammunition in his carry-on bag, authorities said. The man had a ticket to Nice, France and was arrested by Port Authority Police at Terminal B after his handgun was flagged in the checkpoint X-ray machine, the Transportation Security Administration said.  He also had a magazine loaded with five bullets, the TSA said. The federal penalty for bringing a weapon to a TSA checkpoint can cost as much as $15,000.

$42K Raised For Family Of NJ Man Killed In 'Tragic Accident' Vacationing In Thailand Michael Basciano, a 34-year-old Mount Olive native, died while on vacation in Thailand on Tuesday, July 9, according to his obituary at the Dangler Funeral Home website. Basciano died in a "tragic accident," according to a fundraiser set up to support his family, though additional details have not been made available. As of Wednesday, Aug. 7, the fundraiser has raised more than $42,000. Man Exposed Himself, Publicly Urinated Outside Urologist's Office: Denville PD A 30-year-old Union man was arrested and charged for publicly urinating outside a urologists office in Denville on Friday, Aug. 2. Officers responded to Garden State Urology at 282 Route 46 on a report of a man who had exposed himself in front of the office and also urinated on the property, Denville police said in a release. During their investigation, police obtained surveillance footage, allowing them to identify the suspect, police said. He was issued a summons for lewdness and public urination and was released pending a court appearance, police said.

Florida Man Pleads Guilty To Sexually Assaulting 6-Year-Old: Warren County Prosecutor A 46-year-old Florida man pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Aug. 6 to sexually assaulting a 6-year-old in Warren County in 2018, authorities said. Cameron Scrudato pleaded guilty to sexual assault prior to the completion of his trial, Warren County Prosecutor Anthony Picione, Acting Chief of Detectives Brenton Warne, and Phillipsburg Police Department Police Chief Robert Stettner said. Prosecutors will recommend a 10-year sentence for Scrudato, authorities said.
