Child Injured After Daycare Evacuated When Ceiling Tile Falls: Westfield FD A child suffered a minor injury after the Westfield Day Care Center had to be evacuated after a ceiling tile fell on the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 1, authorities said. Newark Man Gets 10 Years For Giving Minors Drugs For Sex: Morris County Prosecutor A 26-year-old Newark man was sentenced 10 years in prison on Thursday, Aug. 1 after pleading guilty to offering two teenagers narcotics for sex in Morris County last year, authorities said. Newark Woman Convicted Of Trying To Hide Gun In Jail: Prosecutor A 34-year-old Newark woman faces up to a decade in prison after recently being convicted of trying to hide a gun while in a holding cell, authorities said. Man Arrested After Fleeing Traffic Stop: Franklin Borough Police A 41-year-old Branchville resident was arrested on Saturday, July 6, after he fled a traffic stop in Franklin Borough, authorities said. Somerset Teen Gets Five Years For Assaulting Employee, Fracturing Face: Prosecutor A 19-year-old Somerset teen was recently sentenced to five years in prison for brutally beating an employee at a business in Franklin Township in Nov. 2022, authorities said. On Nov. 23, 2022, Thanksgiving Eve, Yahmir Brown, along with a juvenile, assaulted an employee of a local business on Hamilton Street in Franklin Township, Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald said. The employee suffered multiple facial fractures, McDonald said. Brown was sentenced after being convicted of aggravated assault in May following a weeklong trial, authorities said.
