Gov. Cuomo's Approval Rating Trending Upward New Yorkers are liking what they see from their governor. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, saw his favorability ratings hit its highest level in almost three years, according to a Siena College poll. Cuomo has a 61-31 percent favorability rating, up from 54-36 percent last month. The poll also found 53 percent of voters would re-elect him to a third term, while 36 percent would prefer someone else. Cuomo is up for re-election next year. Hillside Lake Tax District Eliminated By East Fishkill Voters EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Voters overwhelmingly decided to dissolve the Hillside Lake taxing district in East Fishkill. Voters voted 183-3 to dissolve the district Saturday, which was created nearly twenty years ago. The East Fishkill Town Board has six months to come up with a plan for the lake, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. The town took over the lake in 1990 from a homeowner's association. Residents have accused the town of neglecting the lake, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Poughkeepsie Resident Playing Soccer In Brazil POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Kevin Hoff, a Poughkeepsie resident, will be living every soccer player's dream.The Arlington High School grad who plays soccer at SUNY Oneonta will be heading to Brazil for a soccer tour. While at Arlington, Hoff led the school to a state title in 2012. Hoff, a junior at Oneonta, is one of 15 players who play Division 3 soccer selected for the trip.
