An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Mohegan Lake Man Defrauds Two Businesses, Police Say A Mohegan Lake man was finally tracked down after police say he allegedly defrauded two businesses in 2015. Scott Day, 49, was arrested and charged Thursday with scheme to defraud, a Class A misdemeanor. Over three days in January 2015, Day obtained a total of $198 from two businesses under false pretenses, police said. Day was identified as the suspect though police were unable to locate him for two years. Following further investigation, Day agreed to voluntarily appear at police headquarters. He was released on $1,000 bail and is due back in court on Oct. 17.

White Plains' Mariano Rivera Pitches In To Help Puerto Rico NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Mariano Rivera, the Yankees great who lives in White Plains, is coming in relief for Puerto Rico. Rivera and his wife, Clara, are donating supplies that will be shipped by The Mariano Rivera Foundation to help with the recovery. “It’s always a blessing when you can help others,” Rivera said at the church Refugio de Esperanza in New Rochelle. “Together we can accomplish a lot of things, and together we can build up Puerto Rico. New Trustee Tapped By Wappingers School Board HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. -- Mehrdad Sanai is the newest member of the Wappingers Central School District Board of Education. Sanai, a Hopewell Junction resident, was appointed to the nine-member board on Oct. 2. A 25-year resident of the district, Sanai's two children graduated from the district. His appointment came following the resignation of Tracy Pelton. Sanai said he wanted to join the board to give back to the community. New York Times Spotlights Enduring Fox Hunt In Northern Westchester NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- There's one club in Westchester that literally releases the hounds. The New York Times recently spotlighted the North Salem-based Golden's Bridge Hounds, which is one of the fox hunting clubs in the country and is just starting its 93rd season. The goal is not to kill the foxes, but to chase the fox into its den, according to the Times. New ARC Facility Opens In Rockland NYACK, N.Y. -- The Arc Rockland, a center for people with disabilities, celebrated its new Nyack location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday. The new Arc, at 18 Church Street, joins locations in Suffern, New City, and Pearl River. Yorktown Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Two Yorktown High School students are at the top of the class. Ellen O'Callaghan and Marlee Pincus were named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively. Production Directed By Chappaqua's Ben Stiller Removes Area Road Sign Ben Stiller, a Chappaqua resident, has been making some changes to the area. A Route 9W road sign in the Hudson Valley was removed last week as part of the production for the upcoming miniseries "Escape from Dannemora," that Stiller is directing, according to Hudson Valley Post. The miniseries is about the 2015 prisoner escape from the Clinton Correctional Facility and Stiller was making the area look more like Dannemora.
