Fairfield Cleans Up Debris From Powerful Nor'easter FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Life is beginning to return to normal in Fairfield after a powerful nor'easter slammed the shoreline late Sunday. As of noon Tuesday, there were still pockets of power outages around town. United Illuminating reported 98 customers without power in 16 different locations in town. One of the spots in Fairfield that needed cleanup was Old Spring Road, where a massive tree fell across the road, damaged a fence and spread debris around the area.

Norwalk Man Charged With Assaulting Two Men With Golf Club NORWALK, Conn. — A Norwalk man was arrested Saturday in connection with an assault with a golf club back in June, according to The Hour. William Hornyak, 27, was a passenger in a car stopped because it had heavily tinted windows, The Hour said. Hornyak, who an illegal stiletto knife with a spring release in his possession in the car, was also wanted on arrest warrant in the June 13 assault, police told The Hour. Ridgefield Schools Closed Again On Tuesday Due To Impact Of Storm RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — All schools in RIdgefield will be closed Tuesday, Oct. 31, as the cleanup continues from a weekend nor'easter. The Central Office will be open at the regular time. This is the second day in a row that school is canceled in Ridgefield due to the aftermath of the storm. As of 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, about 850 customers were still without power in town.

Four Lockers Burglarized At Health Club In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. — The Equinox gym in Greenwich reported that watches, wallets and cash were stolen when four lockers were burglarized in the men's locker room Saturday, according to Patch.com. Westport Police Bust Speeding Driver With Two Fake Licenses WESTPORT, Conn. — A Norwalk driver stopped while traveling at a high rate of speed in Westport was busted with two fraudulent driver’s licenses, police said. A Westport officer saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Hillspoint Road and Hales Road on Friday, police said. The car was stopped, and the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said. Police: Darien Woman Loses $9K In 'Software' Computer Scam DARIEN, Conn. — A Darien woman reported that she was scammed out of $9,000 after falling for a scheme presented by a caller, police said. The woman said she received a call from a male who indicated that he worked for a subsidiary of Microsoft, and said that his company owed her money as a reimbursement for computer software she had purchased, police said. The caller instructed the victim to download a program called “Any Desk” so he could guide her through the reimbursement process, police said. 2 Busted On Drug Charges In Bust On Main Street In Danbury DANBURY, Conn. — Officers conducting a surveillance of downtown Danbury made two arrests Monday after observing a "surreptitious meeting" of two men in a suspected drug transaction, police said. Stamford Police Seek 2 Suspects In Theft Of Sunglasses STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford police are seeking two suspects who stole $7,400 worth of sunglasses from the Solstice Sunglass Boutique at the Town Center back on Monday, Oct. 16. 2 Home Burglaries Reported In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. — Greenwich police are investigating burglaries at two empty homes over the weekend, according to Patch.com. The first home break-in occurred at 6 p.m. Friday in a vacant home on Lockwood Lane, police told Patch.com. Nothing was reported taken. Wrestling Away A Great White Shark At The Maritime Aquarium At Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. — The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is saying goodbye to a great white shark that has been on display for years. What looked like a scene from “Jaws” was just staff of The Maritime Aquarium moving a Fiberglas model of a great white shark. The model is a cast of a 16-foot great white that was caught in the eastern end of Long Island Sound in the early 1970s. It has been hanging in The Maritime Aquarium for many years, but was removed Monday to make way for construction of a new second-floor in the Aquarium’s Maritime Hall wing.
