Environmentalists warn that the weed out-competes native plants and is a threat to forest regeneration. She was 40.  She was murdered in a hit-and-run in Louisa, Va.   "Dawn had a contagious laugh that could turn any frown. She loved acting silly with her friends and family, but mostly enjoyed spreading joy and warmth wherever she went," said her obituary. At Least 10 Displaced By Fire In Bridgeport Apartment Building BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — At least 10 people were burned out of their home after a fire spread through a three-unit apartment building in Bridgeport early Saturday, the Connecticut Post said.  The Bridgeport Fire Department responded at about 1:40 a.m. to Lee Street as the blaze spread to three neighboring building, the Post said. Fire Chief Richard Thode told the Post that 41 firefighters, six engines, four ladder trucks and a rescue unit battled the blaze for two hours. Invasive Shrub Linked To Rising Rates Of Ticks, Lyme Disease In Connecticut If you have Japanese barberry bushes planted in your yard, it may be time to rethink your landscaping.  The shrub, which is considered an invasive plant in Connecticut, is being blamed for a rise in the tick population in the state, which in turn is causing an increase in cases of Lyme disease here. That's according to a recent report from the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, which linked the increased abundance of infected deer ticks to the shrub.
