Putnam County Classic Races Start Sunday In Brewster BREWSTER, N.Y. -- The 21st Putnam County Fall Classic half marathon and 5K starts Sunday, Sept. 7 at 9 a.m. on Main Street in Brewster. Registration is available online. All registered participants in the race will receive an event T-shirt and goodie bag, and there will be activities and music for all ages throughout registration and the race. There will also be a one-mile walk. Participants are encouraged to stay afterwards for the Brewster Founder’s Day and street fair. Greenwich Women Race At Triathlon World Championships GREENWICH, Conn. -- Two Greenwich triathletes represented the United States last weekend in the International Triathlon Union World Championships in Edmonton, Canada. Amy Dixon, with guide Lindsey Cook, finished eighth in the paratriathlon 5 sprint distance race. Emma Langley finished second in the Olympic distance race for women ages 18 and 19 years old. Dixon has less than 1 percent vision. She developed uveitis, an inflammation of the uvea, 16 years ago and has progressively lost nearly all vision. Norwalk's Zeus Swim Team Hosts Two Days Of Tryouts NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk's Zeus Swim Team tryouts will be held Sept. 4 and Sept. 6 at Norwalk High School. Fairfield Prep Football Ranks Among State's 'Fab Five' FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield Prep has been named one of Connecticut’s “Fab Five” preseason football teams by Max Preps. Prep ranked fourth on the list prepared by Max Preps, which had Southington listed as its top team. Hand High School of Madison was ranked second, and Ansonia High is ranked third. Prep went 11-3 last year and lost in the semifinals of the Class LL Tournament to Southington.
