North Rockland Boys, Girls Track Teams Pick Up Wins Against Suffern THIELLS, N.Y. -The Suffern High boys and girls track and field teams traveled to take on the Raiders Wednesday in a meet held at North Rockland High School. North Rockland ended up winning both the boys and girls events. North Rockland's boys topped Suffern, 131-13, and the girls won by a 120-20 margin. Both NR teams improved to 2-0.

New Rochelle Softball Squad Can't Contain North Rockland's Hot Hitting NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The North Rockland High softball team hit the road Friday to face New Rochelle in a game played at New Rochelle High School. The Raiders continued their hot start to the new season, improving to 6-0 after rolling to a 19-0 victory over the Huguenots (1-2). North Rockland pitcher Kayla McDermott earned the win, throwing a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts. Gina Selvaggi went 4-for-5 with three RBI for North Rockland, Victoria Alonso homered and went 4-for-6, and Deangie Jimenez was 3-for-5 with three RBI.

Fox Lane Rallies To Beat Pleasantville In Boys Lacrosse Showdown PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Two of the better teams in the section - both unbeaten - squared off Thursday, as the Fox Lane High boys lacrosse team traveled to face defending Class C champion Pleasantville. In a game that was tied 5-5 at halftime, it was the Foxes who took over with a 4-0 third period, to carry a 9-5 lead into the final 12 minutes. The Panthers did manage to get three goals in the net in that last period, but the Foxes held on to earn an 11-8 victory, improving to 5-0. North Rockland Wins Softball Thriller THIELLS, N.Y. - The Ursuline High softball team traveled to take on North Rockland in Thiells Wednesday afternoon, and to no one's surprise, the game turned out to be a gem, decided in the final inning. In the end, it was North Rockland's Kayla McDermott - who also picked up the win on the mound - who tripled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning, breaking a tie to give her team a 6-5 victory in walkoff fashion. Wappingers Girls Lacrosse Team Looking For Good Things This Spring EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. - Last year's Wappingers girls lacrosse team finished at 4-13, after losing to rival Arlington in the first round of playoffs. But this year's team - coached by Kerri Walsh - is looking to improve on that record, and the Warriors believe they can be a .500, or better, team. Old Man Winter Makes Unwelcome Return In Dutchess Just as those flowers were starting to show signs of blooming, Mother Nature delivered a cruel blow. Much of Putnam and Dutchess and the surrounding area woke to a blanket of snow Sunday morning, though most of the white stuff was gone by afternoon. Then there was just that wind to deal with, as gusts occasionally picked up. But there's more coming.
