Putnam's BBQ Lovers Flock To Northern Smoke Putnam's BBQ Lovers Flock To Northern Smoke
Putnam's BBQ Lovers Flock To Northern Smoke CARMEL, N.Y. - Near the end of Stoneleigh Avenue in Carmel, just a stone's throw from the Westchester County border, sits Northern Smoke - the BBQ joint that has earned a reputation as being among the best in the area. If you're not looking for it, you might drive right past this almost hidden gem, set back off the road in what looks like a small house. But make no mistake - for the last three years owner Chris DeRuzza (originally from Bedford Village, now resides in Somers) has been serving up some of the best, prime-time BBQ offerings in the area - as his large and loyal group of custome…

Bergen County Food Truck Draws Rave Reviews From Dutchess Customers DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - Food trucks sure aren't what they used to be. A far cry from the so-called 'roach-coaches' of the past, the gourmet food trucks of today seem to be the hottest ticket going - and with the longest lines - at carnivals, fairs, festivals, corporate events and private parties. One of the trucks that was drawing some of the biggest crowds at last weekend's Dutchess County Balloon Festival was Off The Hook, a gourmet seafood truck. One taste of their food tells you exactly where the name came from. Off The Hook, out of Franklin Lakes, in Bergen County N.J., specializes i…

Hudson Valley Renegades Host Families Help Players 'Chase The Dream' Hudson Valley Renegades Host Families Help Players 'Chase The Dream'
Hudson Valley Renegades Host Families Help Players 'Chase The Dream' FISHKILL, N.Y. - One of the best parts of being a minor league baseball player with the Hudson Valley Renegades is being 'adopted' by a team family in the area - a family that often becomes exactly that. When players come to the Renegades, a Class A Tampa Bay Rays affiliate, they typically stay with a host family, which have volunteered to house - and feed - players for the Renegades. The only perk for the families is game tickets. Often the players become just like a part of the family, going out on family outings, dinners, and whatever else - when they're not playing baseball.
