Bridgeport Man Pleads Guilty To Kidnapping, Rape Of Ex-Girlfriend BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A 50-year-old Bridgeport man could serve as much as 20 years behind bars after he entered an Alford Doctrine guilty plea Friday to charges of kidnapping and raping his former girlfriend last year, the Connecticut Post said. Superior Court Judge Robert Devlin told Nelson Rivera, whose plea asserts an innocent claim while acknowledging evidence could convict him, that he intends to impose the maximum sentence at a Nov. 18 hearing, the Post said. State, Brookfield Authorities Investigate Boat Fire On Candlewood Lake BROOKFIELD, CONN. -- Connecticut Environmental Conservation Police, along with Brookfield police and fire officials, are investigating a recent fire on a boat at Candlewood Lake in Brookfield that resulted in the boat sinking more than 30 feet under water, according to WLAD-AM. No one was aboard at the time of the fire. New York Woman Charged With Using Fake Money In Trumbull TRUMBULL, CONN. -- An 18-year-old New York woman is facing forgery and larceny charges after Trumbull police say she used fake $100 bills at several stores at Westfield Trumbull Shopping Park, according to the CT Post.Vianca V. Viquez, of Brooklyn, is charged with six counts each of first-degree forgery and sixth-degree larceny. Police, who were alerted by mall security, said she used the fake money to buy things at Teavana Tea Store, Lush Cosmetics, Uni Qlo and J Jill stores, the CT Post says. Beacon Police Investigate Home Invasion, Shooting BEACON, N. Y. -- Beacon police are investigating an apparent home invasion Wednesday that left a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his arm, the second recent shooting in Beacon, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal.Police said the victim was shot in the right arm at about 12:48 p.m. in an apartment at Tompkins Terrace.
